Meharry Dental School Professor

Our lead dentist, Dr. Erwin Ricafort recently joined the teaching staff at Meharry Medical College.

“I am currently on faculty as Associate Professor at Meharry Medical College Dental School Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences. This is a part time position for me as I am still full time in my private dentistry practice. Joining Meharry has meaning for me in two ways. First, my father, Enrico Ricafort, DDS, was also a professor at Meharry in the 1970’s. He still has some colleagues at the school who remember him and I am happy to live in his legacy. Second, being a professor allows me to keep one foot in academia while being able to share my twenty years of dental experience with future dentists. As Associate Professor I am in the clinic seeing patients along with the dental students. I am responsible for making sure the students receive the proper hands-on experiences in treating patients of all types while providing the care that patients seek. This is a very satisfying experience for me as the students, patients, and doctors I meet have all been wonderful.”
