Nitrous Oxide-N2O (laughing gas)

This allows you to relax during your treatment and resume your normal activities immediately after your appointment.

Nitrous oxide is best suited for cases of mild to moderate anxiety and is the most frequently used method. Nitrous oxide is administered through a demand-valve inhaler over your nose that releases gas when you inhale through your nose. You will feel the effects within minutes. After your procedure, these effects are quickly eliminated allowing you to safely drive home.

Oral Medication

Safe, reliable, and convenient, oral medications can deliver a more relaxed state of sedation than nitrous-oxide.

Oral medication is highly effective for mild to moderate anxiety. This type of medication is administered with a prescribed pill, one hour before your appointment, to facilitate a state of relaxation. After the procedure, patient may remain “woozy” for part of the day and will need a driver to take them to and from the dental office.

Intravenous Sedation

For those patients with more severe anxiety, sedation using intravenous medications can eliminate a patient’s dental fears. Patients do not experience any pain and have no memory of any procedure being done. Patient’s undergoing intravenous sedation will need the rest of the day to recover and will need a driver to take them to and from the dental office.

Patients who choose to undergo this form of sedation usually get all or most of their dental work done in one visit. This can be very convenient since a patient does not need to return multiple times for treatment.
